The European FUTEX Convention, launched in 2005, became the unmissable Technical Textile innovation event in Northern Europe. FUTEX is the result of the close partnership between the City of Marcq-en-Baroeul and the CLUBTEX network of technical textiles professionals. It is chaired by Patrice Gallant, Chairman of CLUBTEX, and Bernard Gérard, MP and Mayor of Marcq-en-Baroeul and Vice-Chairman of Parliament's Textile Commission.
This biennial event has already held 4 editions mobilising more than 300 participants representing about ten nationalities.
A '4-in-1' event :
- Meetings : Technical textile indstrialist as well as researchers and final users will provide information, hold discussions and answer all questions on the proposed topic at conferences and round tables
- Future : the European students are encouraged to candidate to the FUTEX Sutend Challenge in textile innovation with surprising, unexpected and promising projets
- Image : the FUTUROTEXTILES exhibition in partnership with lille3000 allows to demonstrate the scope of Technical Textile applications
- Exchanges : about 15 stands are run by professionals who present their activities, exhibit their recent innovations and share their needs for future projects

2005 : the Textiles for Health and for Automotive with Patrick Devedjian, then Minister of Industry
2007: the Extreme Textiles with Jean-Louis Etienne Medecin and Explorer of the north and south poles
2009 : Towards Textile Housing? with Patrick Coulombel, co-founder of Architectes de l'Urgence (Emergency Architects)
2011 : the Invisible Textiles with Joël de Rosnay, futurologist and biologist, specialised in the new technologies
FUTEX in 2012 : FUTEX is lending its know-how for the opening of CETI for the FUTUROTEXTILES AWARDS 2012
